Description
The god FAVONIUS (one of the Roman gods of the wind and generally equated with the Greek god Zephyr) loved Flora, the goddess of flowers, so much that he transformed himself into a rose because the goddess had no other interest than flowers. When Flora saw the rose, she kissed it, thus fulfilling Favonius' wish. And it is said that the word “rose” itself originated when Flora, in pain from being struck by Cupid's arrow, could not pronounce the word Eros correctly but made it sound like “ros”. From this the word “rose” became synonymous with Eros; both in Rome and in Greece it is the symbol of youth, vitality, love, beauty and the fertility of nature.
FAVONIUS was a Roman name, meaning "favorable." It applied to a number of Roman mythological and historical figures. The gentlest of the winds, FAVONIUS is known as the fruitful wind, the messenger of spring. He had dominion over plants and flowers. The Roman poet Horace wrote: quid fles, Asterie, quem tibi candidi primo restituent vere Favonii? Why do you weep, Asterie, for the man whom the bright west winds will restore to you in early spring?
In this dominant "rose and oud" perfume created exclusively for HARRODS by NISHANE, the notes of rose and incense complement each other with a very balanced touch of oud. The opening effect comes from an incense note that follows the flow and cheers its continuity.
