A long time ago, in a small village on the lower coast of the Niger River, there lived a beautiful girl from the Igbo tribe. On the day of the celebrations in honor of Ala, an important goddess of the earth and fertility, while the sun was setting, painting the sky with intense shades ranging from gold to purple, the girl began to dance, inebriated by the colors and scents of her land. It was in that moment of immense bliss that she addressed her beloved deity with the desire to be able to share her immense joy with the other peoples of the world. Ala, moved by the request, wanted to grant that noble desire. She materialized before his eyes and in an instant gathered all the precious essences of that enchanted landscape in a golden casket. Handing it to him, she said: 'This is a magical casket, because it is an inexhaustible source of perfumes. Entrust it to a messenger of beauty who knows how to reach everyone'. And she disappeared. The girl, amazed and confused, found herself with that wonderful gift in her hands... Who could she turn to? Suddenly she was attracted by a giraffe that stood out in the sun. She stopped to look at the elegance of its bearing and its long neck, in which she perceived the symbol of spiritual elevation and the connection between loving thought and heart. She entrusted that precious case to the giraffe who, after having immersed its muzzle in the box, stretched out towards the sun. A light breeze, which went out to sea, touched her... and that wonderful perfume spread throughout the world.
